How Can I Find Out If My Grandson Is Smoking Pot?

We are all very worried that my Grandson might be smoking pot. He has got in with bad company and we believe they smoke it.
He is only 13 years old and don’t want this to get out of hand, so trying to put a stop to it as soon as possible.
I thought there was some kind of test the doctor can do but they have said they cant.
Can anyone give me some advice please.

Firstly don’t go in all guns blazing and start shouting at him etc as this will likely drive him away and further into being naughty and deceitful (if he is that is)… i smoked it when i was younger and the tell tale signs was…
    1. coming in with red eyes and blaming it on being cold outside making my eyes run ( i live in scotland so got away with that one)
    2. little bits and pieces from your purse or loose change going missing or pocket money etc being given but seeing nothing in return
    3. His eating habits change, hungrier when comes home.
    4. look at his finger.. browny yellow at tips if resin and stinky and greeny if grass.
the only other ting you can do is search his room. if i was you id treat him like an adult.. approach the subject calmy.. if he denys it say ok son i trust you and let him know if you find out he is lying to you he i in far worse throuble than if you doenst come clean.

Marijuana has a very distinct pungent smell that you could sniff out in a crowded room. Get close to him when he’s been out with these friends and if he’s been smoking it, you’ll clearly be able to smell the residue smell on his clothing and in his hair. Remember it’s a distinct smell not particularly alluring if anything it would deter many from experimenting with it just from it’s smell alone.

Some physical effects of marijuana include a faster heartbeat and pulse rate, bloodshot eyes, and a dry mouth and throat. There are test kits which you can find online. You are right to be concerned. At that age, smoking pot could really retard the brain and interfere with the development.
A lot of people go through a phase of smoking pot then give it up where as for others smoking pot is the beginning of harder drug use.
I think the more important question you need to ask yourself is, how can you help him stop smoking pot if you find out that he is using.
I suggest you seek professional advise on how to deal with your suspicions. e.g. drug & alcohol services, counseling – which are generally free of charge for consultations.
    All the best.

There are kits available now to check for certain drugs, check by calling your drug store.I am not sure if they sell in all states. The other option is taking them to doctor who can give you a prescription for a urine drug screen.
WHOEVER TOLD YOU HE CANT BE TESTED IS TOTALLY MISINFORMED!
    Good Luck!

They can…but they need his consent or his gaurdians…he can urinate in a cup and they can get it tested.
Or just look and see if his eyes are bloodshot or see if he’s pulling a whitey…you could always ask if he wants a cup of tea and a pack of jaffa cakes and see what his reaction is…. hehe

Your best bet is to check his pupils when he comes home from being with his friends, check if they’re dilated, or if his eyes are particularly bloodshot, he’ll probably also smell slightly of the stuff.
Or, you could just ask him straight out.

just ask him he might say no but who knows i do it on occation and its not bad and if my parents ask ill say yes its no big deal just ask him

  8. Siobhan Says:

You will be able to smell it on his clothes for one thing. Physical signs, his eyes may be red and bloodshot and he may appear like he can’t be bothered to anything.

usually hair smell but you may just ask him or give him some information about danger of smoking. Look here for some new researches on teen smoking http://howtoquitsmokingcigarettes.net/recommended-stop-smoking-products/ "

  10. Lauren Says:

Get a hair tested. You should be able to find one in his room without him knowing.

    1. pupils are big
    2. blood shot eyes
    3. glossy eyes (from using eye drops to get rid of blood shot eyes)
    4. movements/responses are slow
    5. you might be able to smell it on him
    6. his eyes look droopy
    7. hungry
those are the usual side effects from smoking pot
i woul advise you to stop him as soon as you can becasue
weed can lead to being curious of other drugs and trying them out or the weed itself can be laced with another drug
its happened to me and its not fun..you kind of lose yourself
    afterwards
As of for drug tests, you can find one even at walgreens store for around $40-$50
